Food shortages have reached unparalleled levels in 2022, both in size and severity, with more than 205 million people facing food insecurity and in urgent need of assistance. The EU is providing a humanitarian aid package of €210 million, allocated to countries including Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Chad in West and Central Africa; Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia in East Africa; Yemen, Syria and Lebanon in the Middle East; Afghanistan; and Venezuela in South America. This dramatic food crisis has escalated with Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine (Ureign) disrupting supply chains and causing food, energy, and fertilizer prices to rise, along with the economic shock of pandemics, climate change, and internal conflicts in some of the recipient countries. New report reveals billionaires’ vast greenhouse gas emissions.
According to global anti-poverty charity Oxfam, the world’s billionaires are major contributors to greenhouse gases due to their business ventures. Yearly carbon emissions from 125 billionaires’ investments were found to equal 85 million cars over the same period, with a small group of the ultra-rich producing the same amount of CO2 as entire countries such as Argentina, France, or Egypt. Oxfam suggests that the world’s wealthiest should be taxed and regulated so as to encourage investments in more environmentally friendly enterprises. They should also be required to have action plans in place to meet climate change targets similar to countries. Thank you, Oxfam, for your timely report. A computer program created in 1973 by pioneering computer experts at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, has made uncannily accurate predictions about our planet. Dubbed “World One,” it was commissioned to model our planet’s sustainability, and continues to foretell more bleakness for the near future, such as the collapse of civilization by 2040 and the potential end of the world as we know it by as early as 2050. The software uses an advanced algorithm to cite statistics relating to population, quality of life, natural resources and pollution among other things. Incidentally, “World One” has also made clear that small changes like cleaner cars and lowered birthrates will be insufficient to secure our survival. Our appreciation, “World One” developers, and all concerned individuals. Let us heed this urgent warning and adopt the effective and easy solution of plant-based living to create Eden on Earth, in the blessings of the Providence.
British researchers discover how to communicate with cat-people.
Researchers from the Universities of Sussex and Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, performed a study on how to communicate with cat-people by blinking slowly. It was determined that if a human narrows their eyes and then closes them for a few seconds intermittently, the cat-person will be more likely to blink back in a similar manner, and even approach the person. The experts used two groups of people to perform the study, the first being the cat-people’s human companions and the second group being people who did not know them. The researchers found that cat-people were more likely to be in a slow-blinking mode if the human initiates this type of behavior. Canadian city moves to protect homeless people.
The Canadian city of London, Ontario, recently approved funding for a program that will help up to 400 homeless people each day. A total of US$3.73 million has been allocated for the endeavor, which will include 258 drop-in-spaces, with laundry, food, showers and bathrooms. There will also be 138 shelter spaces for overnight stays, and an additional 58 temporary places available during colder weather. The city is also working on longer term accommodation and rehabilitation, so eventually no one will be left on the streets. Way to go, London city, Ontario, on your caring actions to support your citizens. The healthy and affordable food as well as its sustainable facilities attracts many students and people from the community. All the ingredients are plant-based and high quality, for example, no high-fructose corn syrup and artificial colors or flavors are used. To achieve sustainability, the tables are from renewable bamboo, the chairs are made from reclaimed wood and recycled waste. Even the majority of the takeout packaging is made from plants. Injured lion-person saved by elephant-hero in Africa.
Photographer Morne du Plessis captured an incredible moment at the Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa. While two hyena-persons were circling a lion person, who couldn't run away because of his injured leg, suddenly, a heroic elephant-defender came rushing out of the bush loudly trumpeting, conveying a clear message to the hyena-people that it was time to run away. Undoubtedly, our lion-friend will be appreciative of the kind elephant-savior. Many thanks, photographer Morne du Plessis for recording this incredible interaction. We hope the lion-person quickly recovers and that the noble elephant-protector continues to help friends while freely and safely roaming the vast park, in the divine light of Heaven.
