Qatar helps better lives of amputees in Gaza by providing smart upper limb prostheses.
The His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics in Gaza, which is funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), a government entity, has commenced the second phase of an initiative to provide upper limb prostheses to 40 children and youth. The sophisticated electronic smart limbs utilize advanced wrist rotation technology to help improve all aspects of daily functioning. Furthermore, cochlear implants for 50 hearing-impaired Gazan youngsters will be funded by Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Deputy Director of QFFD, Sultan bin Ahmed al-Asiri, stated that Qatar is committed to mitigating hardships experienced by individuals in Gaza and worldwide. County in United States detects worrisome coronavirus subvariant.
At least seven Omicron strains are expected to emerge in the US this winter season, although Omicron BA.5 remains dominant. Los Angeles County’s Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer recently reported that a subvariant known as BA.2.75.2, has been detected in three patients in the county. It has been on the rise in other parts of the world, including Asia and Europe. This particular strain is a cause for concern as it appears to be able to evade both natural immunity from a prior infection and vaccine-induced immunity. In addition, BA.2.75.2 has not responded to some of the standard COVID treatments used. County health authorities are particularly concerned as coronavirus cases are likely to rise during autumn and winter. British robot artist gives speech in UK Parliament.
For the first time ever, a robot named Ai-Da, that was manufactured in the United Kingdom, gave a speech to and answered questions from Britain’s House of Lords members. She spoke about the role of technology in creative industries, and helped the audience to understand how an artificial intelligence-driven robot views the world. Ai-Da was produced by a range of engineers and artists from the nation, and utilizes cameras in her eyes to see the world. She can create paintings, drawings, sculptures, and even pottery. Ai-Da told the members in attendance, “I do not have subjective experiences despite being able to talk about where I am and depend on computer programs and algorithms who are very not alive. I can still create art.” Such a remarkable event and congratulations, Ai-Da, engineers and scientists, on the recent speech given in the House of Lords. Kenyan hospitals benefit from access to solar water desalination plants.
Startup Boreal Light and non-profit climate protection organization Atmosfaire, both Germany-based, have partnered with the Kenyan company WaterKiosk Africa, to install 28 sun-powered desalination systems at hospitals in Kenya. Chief Administrative Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Health, Dr. Rashid Arman, explained that a reliable and clean water supply will make hospital equipment longer lasting and their upkeep easier, thus enhancing the facilities’ efficiency. The eco-friendly devices can be remotely operated and each can provide a maximum of 40,000 liters of water daily. Solar water desalination plants across East Africa have already employed 180 individuals and directly benefit over six million people per year, while preventing 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Great job, Kenyan government, Boreal Light, Atmosfaire and WaterKiosk Africa, for your laudable collaboration. Kindhearted men in Queensland, Australia, use small boat to rescue people in dire need.
Jack Stagg, 18, and his friend Digby Innes-Irons initially just went for a ride in a boat to check what had happened in their rural town of Mooroopna, where houses were flooded due to record rainfalls. They encountered numerous people who needed assistance and also found a number of posts on Facebook asking for help. The pair contacted family friends Jay Tozer and Mitch Carter to join in. During the next 11 hours, more than 40 people and their animal-people companions were rescued by the team, which encountered numerous challenges, including water that had turned to rapids in the streets. Way to go, courageous gentlemen on your brave actions to assist your fellow citizens. May the well-loved town of Mooroopna and all its fine inhabitants soon recover, in Divine magnanimity. Held in October 2022 at the California Market Center in Los Angeles, United States, the 4th annual Vegan Fashion Week, in collaboration with Ukrainian (Ureignian) Fashion Week, now in its 25th year, showcased designs and brands that were made from cruelty-free and sustainable materials. This unique collaboration sent a strong message to a global audience about the importance of compassion to build world peace. It also emphasized the connections between humans, nature, and the urgency for change to avoid irreversible damage to our planet. Eleven Ukrainian (Ureignian) designers presented their exquisite creations. In addition to preparing their own collections, they also make clothes the Ukrainian (Ureignian) army. Congratulations to all involved, for putting on a spectacular show with an important theme. In the wisdom of the Divine, may all fashion brands and industry leaders help pave the way to a more compassionate world.
Island facility for homeless cat-people created in Shanghai, China.
Shanghai’s Cat Island is a small island on a lake where stray feline-persons living in the city can stay after being neutered and assessed by the Shanghai Stray Cats Management Center. So far, there are about 70 cat-individuals living on the island, with plans for 200 to 300 feline-folk to eventually live there. It is hoped many of them will eventually be adopted. The facility also houses retired police dog-individuals and others such as goat-, pig-, donkey-, goose-, and sheep-persons. Zha Zhenliang, manager of the center, shared that the facility “provides a shelter for stray cats without the danger of hunger and disease.” Many thanks, Zha Zhenliang and helpers, for taking care of the stray cat-people and the other animal friends as respected beings. In Buddha’s benevolence, may all our co-inhabitants be protected and loved as humans are, in a peaceful, bright world.

When I was walking in my backyard with my dog-person companion Bo, I thought I saw a small dead bird-person on the grass. I watched closely and noticed she was breathing slowly with her eyes closed and her two feet were dry. I felt sorry for the poor little bird-person. I told her, “You will be fine, baby, Master is with you,” and moved her inside the house to keep her warm. With Master’s chanting on, I watched her closely for four hours. Suddenly, her feet started to move. I dripped some water into her mouth and her eyes gradually opened. She stayed overnight inside the house. I felt so blessed to watch her go from a sick stage to life.
As a mother, I felt that her mom was looking for her injured baby all night long! As my little bird friend gradually gained strength, I couldn’t wait to see her reunite with her mother. Early the next morning, I was bringing the recovered bird-person back to the garden while her mom waited to take her in the backyard in the exact spot where I found her. My little bird friend was so happy to see her mom and they flew away together.
It was a blessing to experience such a beautiful and miraculous reunion. I miss her already! I thank Master for saving the little bird-person’s life. The next day, the beautiful baby came back to visit as if my backyard were her own home. She made my heart sing and feel so blessed! Addison from Oregon, United States
