The Turkey Diyanet Foundation is constructing water wells in Guinea, one of West Africa’s most underdeveloped nations, having already helped dozens of other countries to build these vital resources. Each well will feature a 5,000-liter water tank with eight taps and is powered by solar panels placed on the tank’s exterior. Three of these wells will meet the urgent water needs of over 10,000 Guinean residents from the cities of Boke and Boffa. Fishing guide dies after having “flesh-eating” bacterial infection.
Vibriosis, also known as fish poisoning, is caused by either eating raw shellfish or having an open wound come in contact with the vibrio bacteria present in salt or brackish water. The latter was the case recently in Texas, USA, when South Padre Island fishing-boat guide Raymond “Skipper” Mock tragically died after contracting the bacteria through an apparently innocuous wound caused by an oyster cut. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with one particular strain of the vibrio bacteria, an infection through an open wound could lead to limb amputation and causes death in one of five cases. Our condolences go to Mr. Mock’s loved ones on their loss. We pray this disease soon becomes a thing of the past as we humans reflect and interact more lovingly with marine life and all beloved animals, in God’s compassionate care.

Ali Özkan, 81-years-young and his 76-year-young brother Kazim, both from Çifteler, in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, have planted over 1,000 pine and acacia trees in their village over the past decade, earning them the nickname the “tree grandfathers.” Every day, the caring brothers continue to look after the trees they planted on empty land and roadsides as well as around a cemetery. Due to their initiative, precipitation in their neighborhood has increased, thereby benefiting everyone. Kudos, Ali and Kazim Özkan, for your loving efforts to plant life-giving flora. Situated atop multi-story parking garages, the rooftop farms, run by Nicholas Goh and his company Nature’s International Commodity, supply around 4,000 kilograms of vegetables every month to local wholesalers at discounted prices. The urban plots, which grow vegetables tailored to local preferences, are helping to achieve part of the country’s plan for 30% of its food to be locally produced by 2030. Urban farming utilizes small, carefully managed areas that are positioned within the residential ecology so as to meet the needs of its inhabitants. Mr. Goh’s concept uses soil technology and sensors to mitigate potential crop issues, thus saving time and money. Brave Austrian man saves couple from flood.
In July 2021, Alexander Eisenmann rescued his next-door neighbors Ayşe and Salih Karaaslan, when they were swept away by rising floodwaters in Hallein, Austria. The couple was trying to cross the road as the place they were in was flooding. When Mrs. Karaaslan lost her footing, her husband grabbed hold of her sweater, but both were washed into the torrent of water gushing down the street. Luckily, Mr. Eisenmann saw the event, quickly jumped into the water and came to their aid. All managed to escape the situation by climbing to safety on a high wall. What a wonderful neighbor you are, Mr. Alexander Eisenmann, and thank you for your heroic actions to save Ayşe and Salih Karaaslan from the deluge. Loving canine saves human companions’ lives by alerting them of house fire.
Two-year-old Shadow, a white German Shepherd, recently woke up his caregivers, Marie Jordan and Craig Jones of Coventry, England, UK, early one Sunday morning by barking loudly. Taking Shadow downstairs to let him out, Mr. Jones saw flames in the living room, which had been started by an electrical fault. Ordinarily, the smoke detectors would have alerted the couple, but they had taken them down a few days earlier while decorating their house. Luckily, Shadow realized the situation, woke them up, and they exited the house quickly. According to the fire brigade, a few minutes longer and their lives would have been lost. Many hugs and kisses caring Shadow, for saving the lives of your dear friends Marie Jordan and Craig Jones. In God’s loving gaze, may you all live long and healthy lives full of serene strolls in the beautiful sunshine and nature.
