Time Travel and Other Inventions: from Science Fiction to Reality, Part 1 of 2

In 2016 a social robot named Sophia was produced by Hanson Robotics and introduced to the public. Sophia’s appearance and behavior closely resemble those of a human being, and the robot can generate more than 60 facial expressions. Sophia was designed to interact with humans, through simple conversation and facial and voice recognition. Sophia is also able to mimic human gestures and facial expressions and can improve her social skills over time. In October 2016，Sophia was granted Saudi Arabian citizenship, thus becoming the first robot citizen of any country in the world.
